Here, we will visit superb Golestan Palace, the bazaar, and Imam Khomeini mosque. Then we can try some Iranian traditional dishes like Dizi.
Catch a flight today from Tehran to Shiraz. Shiraz is known for its orange-scented atmosphere and also its gardens, mansions, colorful rugs, art, philosophy and of course poetry. Today you’ll take a walking tour around the city and will visit Shahcheragh – a beautiful mausoleum for one of Imam Reza's brothers and the holiest site in Shiraz. Then we will have a stop to see Jame Mosque and our tour will end in a traditional teahouse in Vakil Bazaar.
Our first stop for today is the magnificent Persepolis. The capital of Persian Empire built by the order of Darius the Great. This construction took 150 years that finally was burnt down by the Alexander’s flames of wrath. Next we get back to the city and will visit Eram Garden, the tombs of Hafez and Saadi, two of the most shining poets in the sky of Persian Literature. In the center of town is the Arg-e Karim Khan, a mud-brick citadel from the 18th century, a time when the whole of Persia was ruled by Karim Khan from Shiraz. For the rest of the day you are free and there are many activities to fill your day, you can talk your tour leader who can help you with planning your day.
Today we will have a wonderful free morning in the city of flowers and nightingales. We can visit Nasir ol Molk Mosque. Later, in the afternoon we will travel on to meet the nomads. Iran has over 500 different tribes and those are in Fars are called Qashqaeis. Today most of the nomads are more settled in the villages in the region but local tradition still prevails. We spend this evening in a simple local village home as we discover this way of life and maybe we can learn how to make bread.
We say goodbye to our hosts and head to Eghlid town. This city acted like the gateway of Persepolis to other routes. After checking into the hotel, we’ll head out to visit Sassanid Empire ruins that date back 1,800 years, a Zoroastrian ‘Tower of Silence’, and the sacred shrine of Eghlid.
We continue our journey to the historical town of Abarqu. Here we will visit an ice house (a house especially built to act as a fridge). The 11th century Gonbad Ali Dome, the Khan-e Aghazadeh mansion, the Jameh Mosque and the cypress tree that is said to be 4,000 years old. We keep going until we arrive at Zein-o-din Caravanserai. A Safavid Caravanserai built during the time of Shah Abbas (16th Century). There you can feel like a merchant passing by the Silk Road. The main function Caravanserais was to receive travelers and store merchandise, so they were designed to be spacious enough to shelter guests, as well as goods. Most of the items of this caravanserai have remained authentic like wooden floors and heavy curtains used instead of doors.
When we get up, the landscape will catch the eyes because as far as the eyes can see is the bare desert. We have breakfast and by a private van we head to Yazd, One of the oldest cities in Iran and the center of Zoroastrian community. The places to visit in this city: On arrival, set out on a walking tour visiting the Jameh Mosque and after that we step into the old lanes of the city and see some unique features of this city such as wind towers (Bagdir) which act like natural air conditioning for houses. Then we’ll see the water museum to learn some about Qanats. You will also visit the Towers of Silence and the Fire Temple with a flame that is said to have been continuously burning for a thousand years.
Today we have time to go see some sites outside the city. Kharanak mud brick village, Chak Chak fire temple, Meybod citadel. After lunch, check out Narin Castle, thought to be the oldest mudbrick structure in Iran, and explore the still growing town of Meybod before returning to Yzad. If you need rest you can stay at the hotel.
Today we say goodbye to Yazd and head to Isfahan to this breathtaking city. There are lots of sites here that undoubtedly we can say are among the finest structures of the Islamic world. This evening, you can take a walk to the Zayandeh River and have a look at its historic bridges like Sharestan, Khaju and Sio Se Pol.
In the beginning of the day we start the tour by exploring the city and will learn about the Safavid Time and Shah Abbas the first. We set foot into Imam Square (formerly Naqsh-e Jahan Square), which covers an area of 82,500 square meters and makes it the second largest square in the world. Some marvelous monuments have surrounded the square: Qeisarieh Bazaar on the north, Jame Abbasi Mosque on the south, Sheikh Lotfollah Mosque on the east and Ali Qapu Palace is located on the west side.
We have a free day to explore the city. We can visit Jame Mosque, the biggest historical mosque in Iran. Chehel Sotun Palace, Menar Jomban and Armenian Quarter and the Vank Cathedral are our next stops.
We continue our journey and now we head to Kashan. Kashan is a small town with a great and vibrant history and also traditional houses etc. We spend hours to visit Kashan sites including historical houses of Borujerdis & Tabatabaeis. Take some time for lunch, then head to the most impressive Islamic complex in Kashan – the Agha Bozorg Mosque and Madraseh, famous for its symmetrical design. After that if we have time and energy we will see Fin Garden. In the evening, there's an opportunity to experience some delicious Iranian cooking in the home of a local family.
This morning we leave Kashan and go to Tehran and on the way we will have a stop on Shrine of Imam Khomeini, the leader of the Islamic revolution of Iran. We may also visit Behesht e Zahra, an enormous cemetery where many of the martyrs of the war with Iraq are buried. You will arrive at your Tehran hotel this afternoon.
